December 3, 2013- Mr. Leonides Rodriguez was presented with the 2013 Service Award for Migrant Recruiter, at the Annual State Conference for the Association of Migrant Educators of Texas held in Houston, Texas.
Leonides “Leo” Rodriguez, who was once a migrant himself, has served the Eagle Pass Independent School District as a recruiter for the past 34 years. Throughout this time he has exemplified himself as a recruiter. He is passionate advocate for migrant students and families who continuously provide leadership and resources to educators of migrant students. Leo has built a great reputation for himself by building rapport with our students and families. He ensures students receive the necessary services and have a real opportunity to attend school in northern states.
Working with and helping our migrants, is something Leo truly enjoys, and it is one of the reasons he has dedicated and been so committed to the migrant program. It is because of relatable recruiters like Leo Rodriguez that the district has such a successful migrant program. He is an invaluable component to the program.
