Luis Ruiz Announces Candidacy for Commissioner Precinct 4

Citizens of Precinct 4 and of Maverick County,

I am Luis Alfonso Ruiz, I have been a resident of this community for 33 years now and have since the age of 8 in some way given back to this community by volunteering to various projects that help better the community. I have always seen the potential in this community and I also see the greatness we have.

Sadly, for too long this greatness has been overshadowed by a cloud of political corruption and greed.  We as candidates and public officials, should always decide to run for public office because we care for our community. Of course it is because we love and care for our community that we decide to give back to it in our service. I have been taught by my Grandparents, (Juan C. & Anastacia Alvarado & Ramon C. & Francisca H. Ruiz) that faith and love are what keeps us strong. My parents, (Juan Ramon & Rosalinda Ruiz) always taught me to work hard and never give up.

These family values and work ethic is what I bring to the table.

With my three years as Secretary and Deputy Chair of the Democratic Party, Thirteen years as an employee with the Eagle Pass ISD and two years as a Media Consultant, I believe that a diversity of experience as well as a wealth of knowledge makes me a qualified candidate.

I am a graduate of the 1998 Class of Eagle Pass High School and a 2006 Graduate of the University of Phoenix with a BSIT degree.

I believe that once we bring new leadership to our Commissioners Court, we can begin to heal the lack of respect that has been seen in our local government. We can begin to trust our elected officials and our leaders once again.

Financially we need to be more responsible. View the budgets line by line and determine what needs to stay and what needs to go, even if this means making decisions which are not always popular.

Roads in the entire county need to be repaired and they must me our priority.

Each precinct has its problems and we must go to the people to listen.

The first step is to make every effort to be available to all constituents, for so long our officials have not heard the people. It is time to change that.

Remember that we as candidates cannot do this alone, we need the people.
