Marco A. Gloria announces Candidacy for County Commissioner Precinct 2
Having been involved in serving the community as a teacher, family service worker, early childhood program administrator, and a confirmation catechist at my church; I have longed worked for positive change in Maverick County.
PERSONAL HISTORY
I am the youngest of four brothers born and raised as part of a large and respected family of migrant workers in Eagle Pass. My late father, Pedro Gloria, was an important part of my life. He taught me the benefits of hard work and the importance of helping people. My wonderful mother, Evangelina M. Gloria, has guided my life into always believing in God and making sure I do my best in everything that I get involved. My spouse and three daughters provide my inspiration to make sure that I find the best possible solutions in all aspects of life. As Commissioner of Precinct 2, I will represent the people at the county government level with the same principals instilled in me.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
I graduated from Eagle Pass High School with the Class of 1992. Immediately after graduation, I attended Texas A&M University-Kingsville under a migrant program and graduated in 1997 with a major in History and double minor in Geography and Sociology. Upon returning back to Eagle Pass, I started working as a teacher from 1997 to 2002. At the same time, I attended Sul Ross State University and obtained a second Bachelor of Arts in Social Composites, which included the subjects of Economics, Political Science, and Education. I began my graduate work in school administration but have decided to change to an early childhood program. In 2002, I decided to work for a great organization as a Head Start Program Family Service Worker. In 2004, I was promoted to Head Start Program Director until this day. As my experiences accumulated, I have maintained a high quality of work and responsibility. I have applied, been awarded, and maintained federal and state grants for non-profit organizations. I have maintained high quality programs according to federal, state, and local regulations. I have worked with hundreds of families, assisting them in any way necessary.
VISION
Maverick County Precinct 2 residents need to elect leadership that will work in cooperation with all families, agencies, and other leaders in the community. Accountability needs to be present within our county government. All Maverick County residents deserve to be represented with honesty, accountability, and integrity. My family and I now feel that the time has come for me to seek elected office. I want to bring fresh ideas and positive solutions for precinct 2 residents.
