Maggie Mata-Duran named new Chief Appraiser at Maverick County Appraisal District

The Maverick County Appraisal District Board of Directors named Maggie Mata-Duran as the new Chief Appraiser of the local county appraisal district on Wednesday, November 20, 2013, at a Special Meeting, announced Board Chairman Ramon Ramirez.
Longtime Maverick County Appraisal District Chief Appraiser, Victor Perry, announced his retirement initially to be effective September 30th, but the Board of Directors requested Perry to remain on board until the end of the year on December 31, 2013 to allow them the opportunity to advertise the position opening, interview the applicants, and select a new Chief Appraiser to succeed him.
Two applicants applied for the Chief Appraiser position including Maggie Mata-Duran and Roberto Hernandez, both longtime employees and Certified Appraisers at the Maverick County Appraisal District.
After interviewing the two candidates during Executive Session, the Maverick County Appraisal District Board of Directors returned to Open Session at their November 20th Special Meeting and Board member Lupita Fuentes made the motion to name Maggie Mata-Duran as the new Chief Appraiser effective January 2, 2014 and fellow Board member Luis E. Sifuentes seconded the motion and the Board unanimously voted (4-0) to name Mata-Duran as the new Chief Appraiser of the Maverick County Appraisal District with Chairman Ramon Ramirez and Board member Isidro De Los Santos, IV, joining Fuentes and Sifuentes on the vote. Board of Director Rodolfo Lopez was absent at the November 20th meeting.
Maggie Mata-Duran has been employed at the Maverick County Appraisal District for 31 years and has her Registered Professional Appraiser Certification and Chief Appraiser Certification from The Chief Appraiser Institute of Texas .
In January of 2014, Eagle Pass Independent School District Board of Trustees President Ignacio “Nacho” Saucedo will replace Board member Rodolfo Lopez on the Maverick County Appraisal District Board of Directors after expiration of Lopez’s Board term of office.
