Third Annual Christmas on Main Street
On Thursday Dec. 19th, The City of Eagle Pass with assistance from the Eagle Pass ISD will be hosting its third annual, “Christmas on Main Street”. From 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Eagle Pass residents and visitors are invited to the downtown area to take part in the annual event.
Eagle Pass is a great community and the Christmas event is an opportunity for people to come together and share the holiday experience as we look forward to a prosperous 2014.
The celebration will take place throughout Main Street, where most stores will be involved and open for business. Amongst the festivities, there will be a Santa who will be visiting both the young and the young at heart.
Various groups and organizations will also perform from both our high schools. The celebration will include dances, caroling in Spanish and English and musical performances from an array of instruments. The Library Foundation will graciously provide guests with cookies, pan de dulce and savory hot chocolate to keep us warm on the anticipated cool December night.
City Officials stated the following, “This year, we will take the original idea of our Christmas on Main Street and diversify into several different activities so that more groups can be involved. The downtown area is growing and thriving each and every day. At night it is quite peaceful and the older buildings exude character and a simple aesthetic beauty when lit up with Christmas lights. We hope to host a night where children, teenagers and adults can all come together in the holiday spirit and enjoy a few hours of safe and fun entertainment, crafts and treats.”
