2014 Maverick County Junior Livestock Show & Sale to be held Jan. 21-25th

The 2014 Maverick County Junior Livestock Show and Sale (MCJLS) will kick-off with the Jesus “ Chuy” Sanchez Memorial Community Cowboy Breakfast on Tuesday January 21, 2014 at 7 A.M. at the Zan Mathies Show Barn located at the Maverick County Lake in Eagle Pass, Texas.  Pre-sale tickets for the Chuy Sanchez Cowboy Breakfast cost $8 and $10 at the door. Pre-Sale tickets can be purchased at the Eagle Pass Chamber of Commerce, 400 Garrison Street, Eagle Pass, Texas, (830) 773-3224.

The 2014 Maverick County Junior Livestock Show and Sale will be held during Thursday, January 23th through Saturday, January 25th at the Zan Mathies Show Barn at the Maverick County Lake.

The 2014 MCJLS starts on Thursday, January 25, with the arrival of all animals, exhibitors meeting, and clean-up of the Zan Mathies Show Barn.

On Friday, January 24th, the 2014 MCJLS will have the judging of young exhibitor projects; the weighing, sifting, and judging of Market Rabbits and Meat Pens and selection of Grand and Reserve Champion Rabbit and Meat Pens; the weighing and sifting of Market Steers, Lambs, Goats, and Swine; the judging of out-of-county and breeding animals; and the Adult Showmanship Contest.

On Saturday, January 25th, the 2014 MCJLS will feature the judging of Market Goats and Market Goat Showmanship Contest; the judging of Market Lambs and Market Lamb Showmanship Contest; the judging of Market Swine and Market Swine Showmanship Contest; the judging of Market Steers and Market Steer Showmanship Contest; the recognition of Food & Art Show winners; the recognition of selected champions of Rabbits of Meat Pen; the selection of Grand and Reserve Champion Goat, Lamb, Swine, and Steer; the recognition of Junior and Senior Showmanship Champions; and the selection of Overall Showmanship Champion.

On Saturday, January 25th, the 2014 MCJLS will feature the dedication of the 2014 MCJLS; the recognition of the 2013 Top Ten Buyers; and the 2014 MCJLS Sale.  All local businesses are encouraged to come out and register as an official buyer at the annual sale.

Also on Saturday, January 25th, is the 2014 MCJLS Dance to be held at the City of Eagle Pass International Center for Trade featuring the bands Texas Rhythm Aces and Nick Lawrence Band  from 8 P.M. to 1 A.M. The public is invited to attend the 2014 MCJLS and local businesses are invited to participate as a buyer in the 2014 MCJLS Sale. Maverick County 4-H Club members and C.C. Winn High School and Eagle Pass High School Future Farmers of American (FFA) members will participate in the 2014 MCJLS.  The public is invited to come out and support the youth of Maverick County.

Table reservations and tickets for the MCJLS Country & Western Dance will go on sale on January 18th at the MCJLS Association Office. Adult presale tickets will be $25 and at the door $30. Student pre-sale tickets will be $15 and at the door will be $20 and table reservations will be $50 for a table for eight persons to the MCJLS Country & Western Dance.
