City of Eagle Pass, Texas International Bridges temporarily closed due to bomb threat

The two City of Eagle Pass, Texas International Bridges linking it with its Mexican sister-city of Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico were temporarily closed on Monday, January 13, 2014, during the mid-afternoon between 2-3 P.M. due to a bomb threat received by local authorities.
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security and City of Eagle Pass Police Department bomb squad swept both international bridges before reopening them to international traffic between Eagle Pass and Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico. Both City of Eagle Pass International Bridges were reopened at approximately 3:40 P.M.
Eagle Pass Police Department Lieutenant Alejandro Guedea confirmed to the Eagle Pass Business Journal that both Eagle Pass International Bridges had been temporarily closed due to a bomb threat and that a sweep of both bridges was conducted by federal and local law enforcement authorities. After finding no incendiary device or bomb-like material, the two Eagle Pass International Bridges were reopened by both local and federal authorities.
Currently, both Eagle Pass International Bridges are opened and international trade, commerce, and traffic between the United States and Mexico has resumed and is brisk.
The Eagle Pass International Bridges have been closed previously due to bomb threats and/or violence from Mexico being shut down before crossing into the United States during 2012-2013.
