Eagle Pass Lady Eagles crush Uvalde Lobos in season opener 20-1

The Eagle Pass High School Lady Eagles varsity softball team crushed the Uvalde High School Lobos 20-1 on Monday, February 10, 2014 at Uvalde, Texas in the 2014 softball season opener for both teams.
Lady Eagle junior southpaw hurler Krystal de la Cruz mastered the Uvalde Lobos hitters allowing two hits, three strike outs, one base on ball, and only one run to earn the opening season victory in four innings. The Lady Eagles offensive firepower batted a total of 19 hits against two Lobo pitchers to score 20 runs earning the win via the 15 run rule after four innings in Uvalde.
The Lady Eagles scored one run in the first inning, exploded for 10 runs in the second inning, four in the third inning, and five in the fourth inning before the umpire called it a game via the run rule.
Leading the Lady Eagles offensive show were senior Samantha Fuentes batting 3 for 4 with 3 RBIs and 2 runs scored, Sandra Mendoza was 2 for 4 with 1 RBI and 3 runs scored, Krystal Perez went 2 for 3 with 1 RBI and 2 runs scored, Nina Flores hit 2 for 3 with 1 RBI and 1run scored, Monica Flores batted 2 for 4 with 3 RBIs and 1 run scored, Dariela Velasquez was 1 for 2 with 1 RBI and 1 run scored, Melanie Mendoza went 2 for 4 with with 2 RBIs and 3 runs scored, Miriam Salinas was 1 for 1 with 1 RBI and 1 run scored, Vivian Ramirez hit 2 for 3 with 2 RBIs and 1 run scored, and Sairah Gonzalez batted 1 for 1 with 1 RBI and 3 runs scored.
The 2014 Eagle Pass Lady Eagles include Krystal de la Cruz, Monica Flores, Sandra Mendoza, Krystal Perez, Sairah Gonzalez, Dariela Velasquez, Samantha Fuentes, Amanda Appleton, Melanie Mendoza, Nina Flores, Miriam Salinas, Vivian Ramirez, Clarissa Villarreal, Claudia Cruz, Lysandra Gonzalez, Tristan Huerta, Kayla Sepulveda, Brianna Martinez, Adriana Garza, Isabel Ruiz, and Jessica Velasquez.
The Lady Eagles are under the direction of Head Coach Oscar Ruiz and assisted by Assistant Coaches Ricky Ruiz, Carlos Rodriguez, Larissa Gonzalez, and Charlie Ruiz.
The Eagle Pass Lady Eagles will travel to the Alamo City, San Antonio, Texas, this week to participate in the San Antonio Northside ISD Invitational Softball Tournament.
