Leopoldo “Polo” Vielma announces Candidacy for Maverick County District Clerk
Leopoldo “Polo” Vielma has authorized the Eagle Pass Business Journal to announce his candidacy for Maverick County District Clerk in the March 4, 2014 Democratic Party Primary Election.
Service above self was long engrained in Polo Vielma’s character and mind by his parents, Leopoldo and Olga Vielma, since his childhood in the family business known as Vielma’s Electronics and later in Asherton Cable, Oilton Cable, and San Ygnacio Cable. Vielma later worked at Karnack Cable, TCI Cable, and Time-Warner Cable in Eagle Pass until his retirement after a successful professional and management career.
Vielma’s genuine interest in public service has motivated him to seek the public office of Maverick County District Clerk. The District Clerk is responsible for maintaining the public records of the 293rd and 365th Judicial District Courts as well as assist the state district judges operate an efficient judicial administration of all civil and criminal cases in Maverick County.
“My extensive technical and management experience gained working in the cable company industry has prepared me to meet the challenges facing the District Clerk’s Office such as the complete computerization of all Court records and administration,” said Vielma. “I am completely computer literate and have excellent technical skills having worked over 40 years in electronics and cable businesses,” added Vielma.
In addition, Vielma has public service experience as the current Administrative Assistant to Maverick County Judge’s Office and as the Emergency Coordinator of Maverick County.
“I am committed to serving the citizens of Maverick County on a full-time basis as their next District Clerk and modernize the District Clerk’s Office through my outstanding computer and service experience. If elected, I like to implement a user friendly computer system which will make the District Clerk’s Office records accessible to the public as well as work with our state district judges in improving the judicial administration of our two important district courts,” added Vielma.
“I am married to Rosa G. Vielma and together we have three lovely daughters including Bethanny (17), Ivelyssa (16), and Samantha (14), which attend local public schools. I graduated from Eagle Pass High School and upon graduation worked in the family business previously mentioned,” said Vielma.
“I also am an active member of A.C.T.S ( Adoration, Community, Theology, and Service) and That Man is You, both with the Catholic Church. I am a Lions Club member and have participated as a community volunteer in many community activities including Teleton Navideno and Fiestas Mexicanas,”said Vielma.
“I humbly request your support and vote in my quest to become your next Maverick County District Clerk in the March 4th Democratic Party Primary Election starting with Early Voting from February 18th through February 28th at the Eagle Pass Multi-Purpose Center and on Tuesday, March 4th,” concluded Vielma.
