Man shot in Maverick County

A male person, Jesus Balderas, age 46, was shot by two persons on Saturday, February 8, 2014, while he was in his front porch drinking a beer in La Herradura Subdivision in Eagle Pass, Maverick County, Texas, between approximately 7 P.M. to 7:30 P.M., announced Maverick County Sheriff Tom Schmerber.
According to the preliminary investigation, Jesus Balderas was shot by two persons, Jose Hector Ramos, Jr., and Adalberto Baca, at his home in La Herradura Subdivision in southern Maverick County, requiring that an Eagle Pass Fire Department Ambulance transport him to the Fort Duncan Regional Medical Center for emergency medical treatment arising from gunshot wounds.
Jesus Balderas received four gunshot wounds to his body, including one on his right hand, leg, stomach, and near his heart. Fortunately, none of the wounds caused serious damage to his vital organs and arteries. Investigators found more than nine empty fired shells on Balderas’ property.
Sheriff Schmerber stated Ramos and Baca have been detained for shooting Balderas and are at the Tom Bowles Law Enforcement and Detention Center awaiting to be magistrated.
Jesus Balderas was airlifted on Sunday, February 9th, to a San Antonio, Texas medical center for advanced medical treatment. Sheriff Schmerber stated that Balderas is stable and improving at a San Antionio hospital.
The case is under investigation by the Maverick County Sheriff’s Department.
