Rosa Maria Alfaro Martinez announces Candidacy for County Clerk
Rosa Maria Alfaro Martinez has authorized the Eagle Pass Business Journal to announce her candidacy for Maverick County Clerk in the March 4, 2014 Democratic Party Primary.
Rosa Maria Alfaro Martinez was born and raised in Eagle Pass, Texas, graduating from Eagle Pass High School in 1980 and attended Southwest Texas Junior College. Her genuine interest in public service to Maverick County citizens inspired her to seek the office of Maverick County Clerk in the March 4th Democratic Party Primary Election.
Maverick County citizens deserve a professional and dedicated County Clerk that will always be available to provide service to local and out-of-town citizens and companies needing public records and information. The Maverick County Clerk position is very important because it is in charge of keeping the official records of Maverick County, including Commissioners Court records, birth certificates, marriage licenses, death certificates, real property records, Justice of the Peace Court records, County Court records, and Probate Court records.
I have valuable experience handling and maintaining public records for several years having worked as a Certified Librarian at the Quemado Public Library, Human Resources, Teacher’s Aide at Our Lady of Refuge School, social service agencies, and insurance business.
I am deeply concerned that Maverick County was in non-compliance with the computerization of the Court records and filing of state-mandated monthly Court reports, and the misuse of over $500,000 for Court computerization required by state law despite the current office holder’s 23 years in office.
If elected as Maverick County Clerk, I will provide leadership and implement strict accounting and auditing procedures at the County Clerk’s office that will account for all County Clerk and Court funds. I will ensure that the Court computerization project be completed as required by state law. Most importantly, I will instill a strong public service attitude among all employees to benefit Maverick County citizens. Total accountability and service to taxpayers is needed in the County Clerk’s position, which I will provide.
I am married to Eagle Passan Jose Martinez, Jr. who works for a transportation company and we have two beautiful daughters, Jessica Marie Almaguer of Dallas, Texas and Jacqueline Martinez of Eagle Pass who works as a School Nurse with the local public school district.
As a lifelong resident of Maverick County, I am familiar with the needs and concerns of Maverick County taxpayers and willing to provide new leadership that will bring total accountability and service to the most important public office that all citizens have contact and business with, the County Clerk’s Office.
I respectfully request Maverick County citizens for their vote in the March 4th Democratic Party Primary Election for County Clerk commencing with Early Voting during February 18th through February 28th at the City of Eagle Pass Multi-Purpose Center and on Tuesday, March 4th, and encourage everyone to come out and vote, exercise your right to vote and make a difference.
