Representative Poncho Nevárez Hosts Press Conference to Respond to Greg Abbott’s Comments

(Press Release) – Eagle Pass, TX — Today, State Representative Poncho Nevárez hosted a press conference at the Maverick County Courthouse in Eagle Pass to denounce Attorney General Greg Abbott for doubling down on his “third world” comments towards the Texas border regions. The representative from the 74th District was joined by Maverick County Judge David Saucedo and Commissioner Jerry Morales.

Representative Nevárez issued the following statement:

“It is alarming that as Attorney General, Greg Abbott is saying these demeaning comments toward the people of Texas. What will he say or do if elected as the next governor of Texas?  We did not receive an apology from Abbott, nor do we expect to receive one. On the contrary, he doubled down on his comments and repeated them. The people of Eagle Pass and the Texas border regions will not forget his words come November.”
