City Council presented City of Eagle Pass’ 2013 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report

The Eagle Pass City Council held a special meeting on Tuesday March 18, 2014 at Council Chambers, City Hall Building,100 S. Monroe Street, Eagle Pass, Texas, and heard a report on the City of Eagle Pass’ 2013 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) ending September 30, 2013 by the firm of Martinez, Rosario & Company, LLC of San Antonio, Texas.
Milo Martinez of Martinez, Rosario & Company L.L.P. presented a brief report of the City of Eagle Pass’ Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) for fiscal year ended September 30, 2013. The Single Audit Report is to be presented at a later date scheduled before the deadline of March 31, 2014 for submittal to the appropriate governing entities.
“Council, we present to you the City of Eagle Pass’ 2013 annual report. We use the appropriate sets of standards as asked for through the Auditing Standards in the United States and the Government Auditing Standards because you receive state and other federal monies,” said Martinez.
“In our opinion after a detailed audit in accordance to set standards, the financial opinion referred to above presents fairly in all material respects financial positions of the governmental activities to business activities each major fund and the aggregate remaining fund information of the City of Eagle Pass as of September 30, 2013, and the respective changes of the financial positions were applicable cash flows thereof for the year ending in accordance to the accounting principles currently acceptable in the United States of America,” said Martinez.
The report by Martinez, Rosario & Company LLP qualified the City of Eagle Pass, Texas with an unmodified opinion in accordance to auditing practices, a clean bill of health.
After further discussion on changes in the auditing terms adopted into practice and a presentation of other areas in the financial report that were also deemed by Martinez with a clean bill of health, City Council voted and approved the City of Eagle Pass’ 2013 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report unanimously motioned by Councilman Rudy Villalpando and seconded by Councilman Davis.
