Eagle Passan robbed in Corpus Christi dies from head injuries

Eagle Passan, Jose Blanco, age 41, was robbed and assaulted in downtown Corpus Christi, Texas, on or about Sunday, March 16, 2014, while visiting the Sparkling City by the Bay and sustained severe head injuries and was transported to Christus Spohn Memorial Hospital for medical treatment, where his condition continued to deteriorate until he succumbed to his severe head injuries on Monday, March 17, 2014.
According to the Corpus Christi Police Department, Jose Blanco called the Corpus Christi Police on Sunday, March 16th, at approximately 9:48 P.M. to report an unknown head injury at 600 North Water Street. The Corpus Christi Police arrived and called an ambulance to transport Blanco to Christus Spohn Memorial Hospital for medical treatment of his head injuries. Blanco’s medical condition worsened until he died on Monday, March 17th.
Corpus Christi Police Department believe that Blanco was robbed and assaulted in the downtown Corpus Christi area between the hours of 11 A.M. on Saturday, March 15th to 9:48 P.M. on Sunday, March 16th.
The Corpus Christi Police Department Homicide Division is requesting anyone who has information regarding the robbery and assault of Blanco to please contact Detective R.L. Garcia at (361) 886-2850 or Crime Stoppers at (361) 888-8477.
The Corpus Christi Police Department have not ruled Blanco’s death yet as a homicide as they are awaiting the autopsy report from the Nueces County Medical Examiner’s Office to determine if his death resulted from his head injuries and whether the head injuries were sustained before, during, or after the robbery and assault. Currently, the Blanco case is being handled as a robbery pending the autopsy report.
Blanco listed his employment with the Maverick County Constable’s Office in Eagle Pass, Texas.
