Local Woman Escapes Serious Injury From Stray Bullet

Maverick County Sheriff’s Office (PRESS RELEASE) – Sheriff’s deputies met with a seventy-eight year old female on Sunday March 09, 2014 in regards to a stray bullet entering her home. The female, who resides on Vanesa Street, told officers she was sitting at her sofa attempting to stand up when she felt something graze the back of her head. Deputies then found a single bullet round in the residence. The round was recovered as evidence and the case was turned over to the Maverick County Sheriff’s Office investigation division. The female was not harmed and refused any medical assistance.

Maverick County Sheriff Tom Schmerber stated that it was fortunate that the victim did not suffer a life threatening wound. He also strongly urges the community to report any suspicious activity such as gun shots heard or any other activities that cause concern throughout the community to the Maverick County Sheriff Department at (830) 773-2321.
