The Middle Rio Grande Workforce Solutions in Eagle Pass, Texas announced two youth employment programs now available to local youths, said Jose Alberto Faz, Director.
The first program is under the Workforce Investment Act and offers 19 high school seniors who have plans to go to college during the college fall semester to gain valuable employment experience and earn some money for their college studies. One of the requirements is that persons applying be economically disadvantaged. This program is designed to assist students that do not have any work experience and need assistance in receiving job skills to become competitive in the job market. The program is based on a first come, first served basis subject to qualifying under the program guidelines. The program is scheduled to begin on April 21, 2014 and will run through June 30, 2014. Each person will be eligible to work 200 hours during the program period of operation.
The second program available through the Middle Rio Grande Workforce Solutions is for persons who are 21 years old and under and not currently attending school. This program is designed to provide job skills to persons without job experience who are between 21 years old and under and who are or could be at a disadvantage in the job market. This program provides multiple resources such as child care services, transportation assistance, occupational skills training scholarships, and job readiness/placement services.
