Eagle Pass Police Department Crime Report
June 18, 2014: Officers assigned to the Eagle Pass Police Department Patrol Division responded to a 3 vehicle traffic accident at 5:20 pm. The accident was reported at the intersection of Bibb and Edna Street which also intersects with Quarry Street. A black 2014 Jeep Compass operated by 27 year old Sonia Dovalina was said to have entered the intersection of Bibb Street from Edna Street where it collided with a white 2004 white Volkswagen Jetta operated by 18 year old Evelyn Cecilia Torres. The collision caused the Volkswagen Jetta to veer off its course and collide with a black 1997 Ford F150 operated by 48 year old Gerardo Rivera which was stopped at a stop sign at the intersection of Bibb Street and Quarry Street. The collision caused the black 2014 Jeep Compass to continue forward where it struck a curb causing the vehicle to roll over on its side. The drivers of the black 2014 Jeep Compass and the 2004 white Volkswagen Jetta were transported to the Fort Duncan Regional Medical Center by Eagle Pass Fire Department-EMS for treatment of injuries sustained. No other passengers or occupants were transported by EMS at the time of report.
June 17, 2014: Officers assigned to the Eagle Pass Police Department Patrol Division responded to a fight in progress in the Westlakes Subdivision at 3:25 a.m. Officers searching for possible suspects encountered two male subjects who upon speaking with appeared intoxicated. Investigating officer assigned to the case discovered one of the subjects, identified as 17 year old Luis Enrique Garcia, had been involved in a physical altercation with a second subject who was not present at the time. Luis Enrique Garcia was placed under arrest for public intoxication and during the arrest began to resist. Officers utilized necessary force to arrest Garcia who was charged with public intoxication and resisting arrest. The second subject, later identified as 17 year old Norberto Herrera, Jr., was also placed under arrest. He was charged with public intoxication and disorderly conduct after he began to use profane and abusive language in a public place during the arrest of Garcia. Herrera was later released from custody on a municipal court citation. Garcia was later taken before Municipal Court Judge Francisco Martinez III for magistration and then transferred to the Tom Bowles Detention Center in lieu of a $4000 bond for the charge of resisting arrest.
June 17, 2014: An officer assigned to the Eagle Pass Police Department Patrol Division responded to the Walmart shopping center in reference to theft of merchandise. The investigating officer spoke with the store’s Loss Prevention personnel who informed that an adult female, identified as 45 year old Laura Escamilla-Rodriguez, was seen changing the price tags on the items. She later proceeded to the self-checkout where she scanned and paid for the items at the altered price. Escamilla Rodriguez was detained after she exited the store with a total of $139.22 worth of merchandise. Escamilla Rodriguez was taken before JP Dora Madera for magistration and then transferred to the Tom Bowles Detention Center in lieu of a $1500 bond.
June 17, 2014: An officer assigned to the Eagle Pass Police Department Patrol Division responded to the JC Penney store in reference to theft of merchandise. The investigating officer spoke with Loss Prevention personnel who informed that 2 females had been detained. Loss Prevention personnel informed that the two females had individually selected several items and entered into a fitting room. The two females then exited the store without paying for the hidden merchandise. The two females, who were later detained upon exiting the store were found in possession of a purse and a diaper bag. The females were identified as 17 year old Zuriely Gutierrez Mendez and 24 year old Dennys Mendoza Martinez. They were arrested and charged with theft of over $50.00 each. Both females were taken before Justice of The Peace Dora Madera for magistration and then transferred to the Tom Bowles Detention Center in lieu of a $2500 bond each.
