Crystal City Man Found Guilty of Murder by Jury and Sentenced to 60 Years in Prison

On August 25, 2014 in Crystal City, Zavala County, Texas, the State of Texas began the jury trial of the State of Texas vs. Juan Gabriel Garza, who is 23 years of age, for the murder of Christopher Cruz Navar, age 31. After a five day jury trial the jury found the defendant guilty of murder at 3:30 a.m. on Saturday morning, August 30, 2014 and the jury sentenced Mr. Garza to 60 years in prison.
The murder took place on April 6, 2013 at a mobile trailer park in Crystal City during the early morning hours.
District Attorney Roberto Serna and Assistant District Attorney Robert Lee Little and Alberto Rodriguez presented the case on behalf of the State of Texas. District Attorney Serna stated that justice was served in this case and that the people of Zavala County will not tolerate this kind of violence in their county. The message from the jury is a strong one that they do not want people hurt or killed in their communities.
The case was worked up by Texas Ranger Randy Garcia, Sheriff Salinas and Deputy Jay Garcia along with the Crystal City police department. Working together as a team, law enforcement was able to solve this vicious crime and hold the person who committed this crime responsible for his own actions.
