Auto Accident on Eagle Pass International Bridge No. 1 causes Pick-Up Truck to fall off bridge

An automobile accident on the City of Eagle Pass International Bridge No. 1 caused a Pick-Up Truck to fall off the bridge, approximately 80 feet, and one person was critically injured on Thursday, October 9, 2014, at approximately 9:45 P.M.
According to a preliminary report from the Eagle Pass Police Department, a 1984 white Ford F-150 Pick-Up Truck was traveling west from Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico into Eagle Pass, Texas and was seen swerving lanes, ultimately impacting an oncoming automobile traveling east from Eagle Pass to Piedras Negras, and the impact forced the white Pick-Up Truck to dangle from the bridge and falling approximately 80 feet to the ground below the bridge.
Fidencio Roque, age 80, of Uvalde, Texas was the driver of the 1984 Ford F-150 Pick-Up Truck while Carlos Rodgriguez, age 51, was the driver of the Ford Expedition impacted by Roque at the bridge.
The Eagle Pass Police Department and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security are investigating the freak accident on the Eagle Pass International Bridge No. 1.
Fidencio Roque was transported by the Eagle Pass Fire Department Ambulance to the Fort Duncan Regional Medical Center for treatment. Roque was transported to a San Antonio, Texas medical facility for medical treatment and surgery.
Eagle Pass Police Department Officer Humberto Garza, Jr. informed the Eagle Pass Business Journal that Fidencio Roque had sustained multiple fractures of his body, including the pelvis, ribs, and others. Roque remains hospitalized in San Antonio, recovering from his injuries.
