Eagle Pass Baseball Player falls ill during game in Piedras Negras and later dies at hospital

An Eagle Pass baseball player, Daniel Bernardo Medellin, age 23, died on Sunday, October 19, 2014, in Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico after falling ill during a Sunday League baseball game complaining of feeling light-headedness and was transported to the Dr. Salvador Chavarria Hospital, where he died several hours later from a possible heart attack.
Many Eagle Passans participate in several Sunday Baseball leagues in Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico.
Medellin was playing on a team known as the “Comicos de Piedras Negras” during a regular Sunday League game when he fell ill. Teammates called emergency telephone number to request an ambulance to the baseball field. Medellin was transported to the Dr. Salvador Chavarria Hospital where he died several hours later.
Medellin was a graduate of Eagle Pass C. C. Winn High School Class of 2010 and well-known in Eagle Pass and Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico sports community. He will be dearly missed by his family, teammates, friends, and the community. May he rest in peace.
