Early Voting begins October 20th through October 31st at Multi-Purpose Center

Early voting for the November 4th general election begins in Eagle Pass, Maverick County, Texas on Monday, October 20, 2014 at 8 A.M. at the City of Eagle Pass Multi-Purpose Center located at 480 South Adams Street in Fort Duncan Park and will continue through Friday, October 31st.
Maverick County voters are reminded to take a photo ID to be able to vote as the United States Supreme Court ordered that the controversial Texas Voter ID Law be used for the November 4th general election.
Highlighting the November 4th election is the Maverick County Judge race between Democratic Party candidate and incumbent David R. Saucedo and Republican Party candidate and local community advocate Jose Reyna as well as two contested Eagle Pass Independent School District School Board races in Place 1 between appointed Trustee Benjamin Rodriguez, III, Eagle Pass Police Officer Humberto Torralba, Jr., and local school teacher and community volunteer Mashyell Calderon and in Place 3 between incumbent Trustee Ramon Ramirez and retired EPISD administrator Rudy Bowles.
Of local importance, the race for the U.S. House of Representative, Texas District 23, between Democratic Party candidate and incumbent Congressman Pete Gallego and Republican Party candidate Will Hurd is a key race for the over 800 mile long U.S.-Mexico border district as well as the statewide races for Governor between Democratic Party candidate State Senator Wendy Davis and Republican Party candidate Attorney General Greg Abbott and the Lieutenant Governor race between Democratic Party candidate State Senator Leticia Van de Putte and Republican Party candidate Dan Patrick.
In addition, there are many local races which are unopposed including State Representative Poncho Nevarez bid for re-election to another two year term in District 74, 293rd Judicial District Court Judge Cynthia Muniz, 365th Judicial District Court Judge Amado J. Abascal, III, District Clerk candidate Leopoldo “Polo” Vielma, County Clerk candidate Sara Montemayor, County Treasurer candidate Rito J. Valdez, III, County Commissioners candidates Jerry Morales for Precinct 1, Rosy Cantu for Precinct 2, and Roberto Ruiz for Precinct 4, County Tax-Assessor Collector Isamari Sanchez-Villarreal, Kina Mancha for Justice of the Peace for Precinct 1, Dora Madera for Justice of the Peace for Precinct 2, David Castaneda for Justice of the Peace for Precinct 3 A-B, Jeannie Smith for Justice of the Peace for Precint 3-C, and Tere Melendrez for Justice of the Peace for Precinct 4, Eagle Pass Independent School District School Board candidates Lupita Fuentes and Hilda Martinez, and many others.
Maverick County registered voters are encouraged to go exercise their right to vote during the Early Voting Period from October 20th through October 31st at the Eagle Pass Multi-Purpose Center.
