EPISD Board Swears-in Torralba, Bowles, Martinez & Fuentes, Nacho Saucedo re-elected Board President

The Eagle Pass Independent School District Board of Trustees swore-in newly elected Trustees Humberto Torralba, Jr., Rudy Bowles, Hilda Martinez-Caballero, and Lupita Fuentes at their regular meeting held on Thursday, November 13, 2014, at 6:00 P.M. at the De Luna Center located at 649 Webster Street in Eagle Pass, Texas.
During the meeting, the EPISD Board of Trustees voted unanimously to certify the November 4th election results and declared the winners of the four Trustee positions.
After the certification of the election results, the EPISD Board swore-in newly elected Board of Trustees including Humberto Torralba, Jr. for Place 1, Rudy Bowles for Place 3, Hilda Martinez-Caballero for Place 5, and Lupita Fuentes for Place 6.
After swearing-in ceremony, the Trustees took their seats amongst their peers on the EPISD School Board with President Ignacio “Nacho” Saucedo calling for the election of the School Board Officers.
Saucedo asked if anyone had a nomination for the position of EPISD School Board President.
Newly-elected Trustee Rudy Bowles quickly jumped in and nominated Ignacio “Nacho” Saucedo for re-election to Board President.
EPISD Trustee and Vice-President Glenna Purcell seconded Bowles motion to re-elect Saucedo as Board President.
Saucedo immediately called the nomination for a vote and Saucedo was re-elected as President on a unanimous vote. Previously, the EPISD Board of Trustees used to practice the custom and tradition of rotating the leadership positions among Board members but this tradition appeared to have been thrown out the window on this evening.
Saucedo asked if anyone had a nomination for the position of Board Vice-President.
Board President Saucedo himself nominated Trustee and current Board Vice-President Glenna Purcell for the position of Vice-President.
Trustee Lupita Fuentes seconded Saucedo’s motion for Purcell.
Saucedo called the motion for a vote and Trustee Glenna Purcell was re-elected as Board Vice-President unanimously.
Saucedo asked if there were any nominations for the position of Board Secretary.
Board Vice-President Glenna Purcell nominated Trustee Lupita Fuentes as Board Secretary.
Trustee Rudy Bowles seconded Purcell’s motion of Lupita Fuentes as Secretary.
Saucedo called the motion for a vote and Trustee Lupita Fuentes was unanimously elected as Board Secretary.
The new EPISD Board of Trustees include President Ignacio “Nacho” Saucedo, Vice-President Glenna Purcell, Secretary Lupita Fuentes, and Trustees Dr. Hector Alvarez, Hilda Martinez-Caballero, Humberto Torralba, Jr., and Rudy Bowles.
The new EPISD Board of Trustees made history on this evening in deciding not to follow previous Board practice, custom, and tradition to rotate the leadership positions among Board members, inaugurating a new era of EPISD Board traditions.
