Lady Eagle Lysandra Gonzalez named Newcomer of the Year in District 29-6A Volleyball All-District

Eagle Pass High School Lady Eagles standout sophomore Lysandra Gonzalez was named the 2014 District 29-6A Volleyball Newcomer of the Year by the District Head Volleyball Coaches, announced Lady Eagles Head Volleyball Coach Lucy Hooper-Gloria.

Lady Eagles senior outside hitter Riane Garcia was selected unanimously to the 2014 District 29-6A First Team All-District Volleyball Team.

Named to the 2014 District 29-6A Second Team All-District Volleyball Team was Lady Eagles senior outside hitter Sophia Gomez.

Receiving Honorable Mention Team honors were Lady Eagles Kiana Ruiz, Sairah Gonzalez, and Jeorgina Jimenez.

Recognized as members of the 2014 District 29-6A All-Academic Team are Lady Eagles Sierra McGehee, Linda Hesles, Kiana Ruiz, Lysandra Gonzalez, and Sophia Gomez.

Named as the 2014 District 29-6A Most Valuable Player in Volleyball is Laredo United Lady Longhorn senior Michelle Castro while Laredo Alexander Lady Bulldog sophomore Meagan Menchaca was named the Most Outstanding Hitter, Laredo United Lady Longhorn junior Gabriela Senties was named the Most Outstanding Setter, Laredo Alexander Lady Bulldog senior Leslie Garza was named the Most Outstanding Libero, Laredo LBJ Lady Wolve senior Francis Tobias was named the Most Outstanding Blocker, and Eagle Pass Lady Eagle sophomore Lysandra Gonzalez was named the Newcomer of the Year.

Named to the 2014 District 29-6A First Team All-District Volleyball Team included Eagle Pass Lady Eagle senior outside hitter Riane Garcia, Laredo United Lady Longhorn sophomore outside hitter Isela Murillo, Laredo United Lady Longhorn senior Libero Aimee Ruiz, Laredo United South Lady Panther freshman outside hitter Kimberly Natera, Laredo United South Lady Panther junior Libero Deneen Rodriguez, Laredo LBJ Lady Wolve sophomore setter Tanya Castro, Laredo Alexander Lady Bulldog sophomore outside hitter Christina Gonzalez (unanimous), Del Rio Queen junior outside hitter Brenda Duran, and Del Rio Queen junior outside hitter Martha Ibarra.
