The Maverick County Hospital District (MCHD) Board of Directors will hold a special meeting on Wednesday, November 12, 2014, at 12 Noon at the Second Floor Conference Room of its District Office located at 3406 Bob Rogers Drive in Eagle Pass, Texas, to swear-in the new Board members and elect officers for 2014-2015.
Only two persons applied for the two positions on the Maverick County Hospital District Board of Directors election on November 4, 2014, incumbent Board member Joaquin L. Rodriguez and Ronald H. Hixson, causing the MCHD Board to declare them the winners and canceling the November 4th election.
Rodriguez and Hixson will be sworn-in to a four-year term on the MCHD Board of Directors at the November 12th special meeting followed by the election of officers for 2014-2015.
The MCHD has recorded significant budget losses and deficits during the past 14 years requiring that the District’s reserves be used to artificially balance their budget.
Also on the special meeting Agenda is the presentation of the September 2014 financial statements of the MCHD.
Current MCHD Board Officers include President Juan Manuel Farias, Vice-President Rito Javier Valdez, III, and Secretary-Treasurer Humberto Duran. Vice-President Valdez chose not to run for re-election and is now off the Board.
Under President Farias, the MCHD Board has approved deficit budgets each year of his Presidency including the current 2014-2015 fiscal year, except Board member Ricardo E. Calderon who voted against approving these deficit budgets.
The 2014-2015 MCHD Board of Directors will include Juan Manuel Farias, Humberto Duran, Joaquin L. Rodriguez, Ricardo E. Calderon, and Ronald H. Hixson.
The MCHD Board of Directors special meeting on November 12th is open to the public.
