Former Eagle Pass Eagles standout athlete Rolando Surita passes away

Former Eagle Pass High School Eagles standout athlete Rolando Surita, age 62, passed away on Saturday, December 6, 2014, succumbing to a long battle with cancer, according to his daughter Claudia Surita.
Eagle Passans mourn the loss of Rolando Surita who is considered to be one of the greatest athletes in the history of Eagle Pass High School. Surita was a multiple-sport athlete, lettering in football, basketball, baseball, and track and field. Surita led the Eagles to the state baseball championship tournament in 1970 and was named an all-state pitcher. He excelled in all four sports. Surita went on to play NCAA college football with the University of Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin Cajuns.
Surita had a successful career in the oil and gas exploration business, traveling across the United States and abroad in pursuit of his work.
Surita loved his family and life to the fullest. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and Eagle Passans, but will never be forgotten. May he rest in peace.
