Texas State Senator Carlos I. Uresti (District 19-San Antonio, D) brought many smiles and cheers to many Eagle Pass children at the Teaching and Mentoring Communities Head Start Center on Diaz Street and senior citizens at the Eagle Pass Nursing and Rehabilitation Home at 2550 Zacatecas Drive on Wednesday and Thursday, December 10-11, 2014, as part of his annual Senator Claus campaign.
Over 60 senior citizens received a gift from Senator Claus and took their photo with Senator Claus at the Eagle Pass Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center on Wednesday, December 10th. Residents at the local nursing home and rehabilitation center enjoyed the Christmas spirit with holiday music, refreshments, and food together with Senator Carlos I. Uresti. Residents thanked Senator Uresti for his gifts and charity work with his constituents in District 19.
Over 75 children at the Teaching and Mentoring Communities Head Start Center at Diaz Street in Eagle Pass also received Christmas toy gifts from Senator Claus, bringing big smiles and laughs as they were presented their toy gifts. The students and their parents thanked Senator Uresti for his generosity and genuine concern for the children of Texas.
Senator Uresti stated that one of the greatest joys of his work as Senator is his annual Senator Claus campaign and sharing the joy of Christmas with children and constituents of need within District 19. “There is nothing more satisfying than sharing the joy and spirit of Christmas with my constituents and seeing their smiles and faces glow with happiness upon presenting them with a gift. Christmas is about sharing and helping one’s fellow human beings,” said Senator Uresti.
Teaching and Mentoring Communities Head Start Center Director Rodolfo Lopez stated that Senator Uresti’s Senator Claus campaign is one of the most anticipated in the year by the students and parents at the local school. “Our children really appreciate the Christmas toy gifts Senator Uresti presents to them, brightening their Christmas spirit and happiness. Many of our students can not afford to buy toys or receive Christmas gifts due to the family’s financial situation,” said Lopez.
Both the Teaching and Mentoring Communities Head Start students and the Eagle Pass Nursing Home and Rehabilitation residents welcomed Senator Uresti and his Senator Claus campaign with open arms and broad smiles.
Senator Carlos I. Uresti and his family and staff wish all Maverick Countians a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
