U.S. Attorney Robert L. Pitman confirmed by U.S. Senate for U.S. District Judge

United States Attorney for the Western District of Texas, Robert L. Pitman, was confirmed by the United States Senate to become a United States District Court Judge for the Western District of Texas, San Antonio Division, on December 16, 2014.
Pitman received his commission as a United States District Judge on December 19, 2014 and is now serving as the newest U.S. District Judge for the Western District of Texas in San Antonio, Texas. He was appointed by President Barack Obama after being nominated by U.S. Senators Kay Bailey Hutchison and John Cornyn of Texas to fill the longest lasting vacancy in the United States since 2008.
Prior to being confirmed as a U.S. District Judge, Pitman served as U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Texas from 2011 through 2014 and as Acting U.S. Attorney in 2001.
Judge Pitman also served as a United States Magistrate Judge for the Western District of Texas, Austin Division, during 2003 through 2011.
Judge Pitman is a graduate of Abilene Christian University and the University of Texas at Austin School of Law. He also received a Masters degree in International Human Rights Law from Oxford University.
