Casino Grocery suspect Rosendo Melendez arrested by Eagle Pass Police Department

The Eagle Pass Police Department arrested Rosendo Melendez, age 31, on January 7, 2015, at the intersection of Adolphus and Taft Streets in Eagle Pass, Texas while driving a gray Kia automobile after a warrant of arrest was issued against him for assaulting a female cashier at the Casino Grocery on Del Rio Boulevard, caused over $35,000 in damages to the store, and took merchandise without paying for it on Saturday, January 3, 2015.

Melendez is being detained at the Tom Bowles Maverick County Detention Center in Eagle Pass. Melendez faces several charges for assault, theft, and destruction of property. Melendez will be magistrated by a Justice of the Peace and have a bond set.

According to preliminary reports of the investigation, Melendez is the ex-husband of the female cashier whom he assaulted at the Casino Grocery store on Del Rio Boulevard.

The case is under investigation by the Eagle Pass Police Department.
