Eagle Pass Police Department Blotter
Wednesday, December 31, 2014, 8:57 pm: An officer assigned to the Eagle Pass Police Department Patrol Division responded to a truck stop at the intersection of Highway 57 and 277 South in regard to a welfare concern. A trucking company notified the Eagle Pass Police Department that one of their drivers was not responding to their telephone calls. A description of the tractor and trailer was provided to the police department and the tractor and trailer were located. The passenger side door was discovered to be unsecure and the investigating officer entered the cab of the vehicle where a female was discovered on the floor of the tractor. Upon receiving no response from the female, EMS was immediately summoned and soon thereafter arrived informing officers the female was deceased. Eagle Pass Police Criminal Investigators were notified as well as the Eagle Pass Police Crime Scene Technician. A Justice of the Peace was also summoned and pronounced the 48 year old female from Hardwood, Texas deceased at 10:17 pm. An autopsy has been ordered to determine the cause of death. This case is currently under investigation by the Eagle Pass Police Department Criminal Investigations Division.
Saturday, January 3, 2015, 9:15pm: Officers of the Eagle Pass Police Department Patrol Division responded to a robbery in progress at the Casino Grocery Store on Del Rio Blvd.. Investigating officer arrived to discover a wide array of damages to the cash registers, countertops and numerous product displays. The known male captured on video surveillance entered the store and began arguing with a female clerk. The clerk was physically assaulted by the known male who according to the store owner caused approximately thirty five thousand dollars in damages, exited the store taking a six pack of beer and numerous cigarette packages. Eagle Pass Police Department Criminal Investigators have obtained a warrant and are actively searching for 31 year old Rosendo Melendez.
