City Councilwoman Gloria E. Hernandez registers for Re-election

City Councilwoman Gloria E. Hernandez registered for re-election to her City Council Place 1 on Tuesday, February 10, 2015, at the Eagle Pass City Hall Council Chambers and discussed her passion for serving the citizens of Eagle Pass during the past two years on City Council.
City Councilwoman Gloria E. Hernandez was elected to Place 1 in a special election on September 14, 2013 arising from the resignation of former City Councilwoman Asalia Casares whom was appointed as Maverick County Commissioner of Precinct 2 by County Judge David R. Saucedo. Hernandez easily defeated her opponent, local businessman Angelo Aguilera, in the special election to earn her first election to public office.
“As I register as a candidate, it will be an honor to serve one full term as your City of Eagle Pass Councilwoman. We continue to work on what we have started. I humbly ask for your support and vote in the upcoming election. These are exciting times for Eagle Pass and we must seize on the opportunities for growth,” said Councilwoman Hernandez.
Councilwoman Hernandez was accompanied by her family including mother, brothers and sister, nephews and nieces, and many supporters and friends. She and her family have lived in Eagle Pass for many years and are a pillar in the community.
Councilwoman Hernandez is an attorney licensed to practice law in the state of Texas. She previously served as a teacher with the local public school district for many years before graduating from law school and becoming licensed to practice law.
The City of Eagle Pass City Council Election will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2015, with two places up for election, specifically Place 1 currently held by City Councilwoman Gloria E. Hernandez and Place 3 currently held by City Councilman William “Billy” Davis.
