The American Football Conference (AFC) Champions New England Patriots’ free agent rookie cornerback Malcolm Butler intercepted a Seattle Seahawks Quarterback Russell Wilson pass attempt at the goal line with 20 seconds remaining in the game to preserve the NFL’s Super Bowl XLIX Championship 28-24 on Sunday, February 1, 2015, at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, stunning the football world and pundits.
The New England Patriots rallied from a ten point deficit in the fourth quarter under the leadership of Quarterback Tom Brady to upset the defending Super Bowl Champions Seattle Seahawks 28-24 in the Arizona desert.
Seattle Seahawks Head Coach Pete Carroll took responsibility for the play calling at the end of the game which resulted in the Seahawks throwing an interception at the goal line and disappointing loss to the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLIX.
