Representative Poncho Nevárez Appointed Vice-Chair of Homeland Security and Public Safety Committee
Austin, TX — Speaker Joe Straus announced committee assignments late Wednesday afternoon. Representative Poncho Nevárez was assigned to the Local and Consent Calendars Committee, Natural Resources Committee, and named Vice-Chair of Homeland Security and Public Safety Committee.
The Local and Consent Calendars Committee determines the priority of local bills and resolutions for floor consideration. The Natural Resources Committee has jurisdiction over all matters pertaining to the conservation of natural resources including the appropriation and allocation of all water in the state. The Homeland Security and Public Safety Committee is charged with all matters pertaining to law enforcement, crime, terrorism response, and disaster mitigation. Rep. Nevárez is looking forward to serving as Vice-Chair of the committee alongside Chairman Rep. Larry Philips (R-Sherman).

El Representante Poncho Nevárez fue asignado los comités Local and Consent Calendars, Natural Resources, y fue nombrado vice-presidente de el comité Homeland Security and Public Safety.
El comité Local and Consent Calendars determina la prioridad de todo proyecto de ley local y resoluciones de consideración en la cámara de Representantes. El comité de Natural Resources tiene jurisdicción sobre todo aquello perteneciente al la conservacion de los recursos naturales incluyendo la apropiación y asignacion de todo el agua en el estado. El comité de Homeland Security and Public Safety esta encargada de todos los asuntos pertenecientes a la applicacion de la ley, crimen, respondiendo a actos de terrorismo, y mitigación de desastres. El Representante Nevárez espera con buena anticipación servir como vice presidente de el comité junto con el Representante Larry Phillips (R-Sherman).
