Documentary Film “WESTERN” to Premiere in Eagle Pass, Texas on Friday, July 17th
(Press Release)
WHAT: “Western,” the award-winning movie about Eagle Pass and its daily life, will make its hometown premiere during a free showing this Friday. Filmmakers Bill and Turner Ross depict the daily lives of those in Eagle Pass and Piedras Negras and the more substantial impact of what’s happening in the region.
Main characters in the film include the late Mayor Chad Foster, cattle rancher Martin Wall and his daughter Brylyn. The story of Eagle Pass is told through these characters, but also through the activities that happened throughout the year, including parades, rodeos, bullfights, hog hunts, state fairs and the Abrazo Ceremony. It’s a compelling story of changing times in a timeless place.
The film first premiered at Sundance Film Festival where it won a Special Jury Award. It also won the Lewis Black Award for Best Texas Film at South by Southwest in Austin.
All donations received during the premiere will go to the Chad Foster Memorial Scholarship for graduating seniors, facilitated by the Arts Council of Eagle Pass.
