Eagle Pass Child bitten by rats

Maverick County Sheriff Tom Schmerber announced the Sheriff’s Department responded to a report of a young child bitten by rats in his home in the City of Eagle Pass, Texas on Tuesday, November 10, 2015.

The child was taken to Fort Duncan Regional Medical Center for medical treatment.

Rats are known to be carriers of rabies. It is unknown if the rats who bit the young child have rabies.

The young child will have to undergo medical tests to determine if he was infected with rabies.
