Maverick County Commissioner Precinct 3 Jose Luis Rosales is scheduled to appear for rearraingment and docket call hearing on the pending federal corruption criminal case on Tuesday, November 3, 2015 before U.S. District Court Judge Alia Moses in Del Rio, Texas.
Rosales was indicted by a federal grand jury on four counts of receiving bribes from contractors or people doing public construction contracts in Maverick County, Texas.
The federal indictment alleges that County Commissioner Rosales accepted bribes from contractors or people doing public construction contracts in Maverick County during 2011 and 2012.
The indictment alleges that County Commissioner Rosales manipulated the bidding process to ensure that the contractor or person he selected would be awarded the Maverick County public construction contract.
The indictment further alleges that contractors would submit inflated bids to pay for the construction of the public contract, make a profit, and pay a bribe to County Commissioner Rosales.
Rosales faces up to 10 years of federal prison for each of the four counts in the federal indictment if found guilty.
A rearraingment and docket call hearing is to announce to the Court whether Rosales will plead Not Guilty and request a trial or Guilty and scheduled a plea hearing or request a continuance of the case.
An indictment is not evidence of a person’s guilt. A defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a Court at Law.
