As expected, Maverick County Commissioners Court appointed Eagle Pass Independent School District Police Officer, Mario Alberto Hernandez, as the new Constable of Precinct 3-AB of Maverick County to replace former Contstable Pete Vengas, Jr., who resigned upon his appointment to County Commissioner of Precinct 3 by County Judge David R. Saucedo, at their regular meeting held on Monday, November 9, 2015, in Eagle Pass, Texas.
Hernandez is appointed as Constable until December 31, 2016, but will have to run for election to a full four-year term if he desires to serve past December 2016 in the upcoming March 1, 2016 Primary Election and the November 1, 2016 General Election.
Herandez was unanimously approved by Maverick County Commissioners Court. County Judge David R. Saucedo administered Hernandez his Oath of Office after his appointment in the presence of his family and many fellow Police Officers and friends.
Hernandez thanked Commissioners Court for their trust and confidence in appointing him as Constable of Precinct 3-AB and vowed to do an outstanding job in his new post.
Hernandez’s appointment was not a surprise to Maverick Countians as Hernandez is a close political ally of both County Judge David R. Saucedo and County Commissioner of Precinct 3 Pete Venegas, Jr.
