Eagle Pass High School Temporarily Locked Down

City of Eagle Pass police, along with local Border Patrol agents responded this afternoon to a vehicle believed to be carrying illegal aliens smugglers. Police do not believe there was ever any danger to the schools or community. As a precaution, Eagle Pass High School was placed on temporary lockdown as police investigated the report. The lockdown was lifted shortly thereafter, around 1:30 p.m., once officials determined there was no threat.
Eagle Pass Police, Border Patrol Agents, and EPISD Police apprehended the subjects around noon outside of EPHS after a call from Eagle Pass Police reported the vehicle carrying the alleged suspects.
“Thankfully, it does not appear as if there was ever any danger to residents or students, “said Superintendent of Schools Gilberto Gonzalez. “We are glad to see our emergency practices work effectively and that there was minimal disruption to the schools.”
