Eagle Passan Alfredo Barrientos tased to death by Laredo Police Officer

Eagle Passan Alfredo Barrientos, age 47, was tased to death by Laredo, Texas Police Officer Ricardo Rodriguez while a patient at Laredo Medical Center on Monday, December 21, 2015.

Preliminary reports indicate Barrientos was a patient at the Emergency Room of Laredo Medical Center when he took off his IV and cathether and was attempting to leave the medical facility at approximately 6:40 A.M., causing medical staff to call the Laredo Police Department.

Laredo Police Officer Ricardo Rodriguez, an 11 year veteran, used his Taser stun gun on Rodriguez while causing an alleged disturbance.  Rodriguez was naked and bleeding when confronted by Rodriguez.

Barrientos was returned to the Laredo Medical Center after being tased by Rodriguez and later died at the hospital.

The Texas Rangers are investigating the death of Alfredo Barrientos.  Laredo Police Officer Ricardo Rodriguez is on administrative duties pending the investigation.
