Guajardo and Diaz named City of Eagle Pass’ Director & Employee of the Year

The City of Eagle Pass Police Department swept top honors at the recent City Awards Banquet as Police Chief Alberto Guajardo was named the City’s Director of the Year while Detective Hazel Diaz garnered the Employee of the Year Award.
Eagle Pass Mayor Ramsey English Cantu thanked all City employees for their hard work and dedication throughout the entire 2015 year. Cantu recognized City employees for their daily contributions in providing public services to over 30,000 residents.
Mayor Cantu presented the City of Eagle Pass Director of the Year Award to Eagle Pass Police Chief Alberto Guajardo for his extraordinary leadership and contributions to the community. In accepting the Director of the Year award, Police Chief Guajardo thanked all the Police Officers and Staff at the Eagle Pass Police Department for their dedicated service above self. Guajardo also thanked all City of Eagle Pass employees for making a positive contribution to the community. Guajardo stated that he is honored to serve with the best Officers and employees in the State of Texas.
Police Chief Guajardo is in his 26th month as Eagle Pass Chief of Police and has 11 years, 9 months of service with the Eagle Pass Police Department. Prior to joining the Eagle Pass Police Department, Chief Guajardo worked 13 years with Central Power Light and American Electric Company and another four years with the U.S. Army as a medical specialist.
Mayor Cantu also presented the City of Eagle Pass Employee of the Year Award to Eagle Pass Police Department Detective Hazel Diaz. Diaz thanked the Mayor and City of Eagle Pass for the recognition. Diaz stated she thanked all of her colleagues, officers, and staff at the Police Department for making her work so enjoyable and beneficial to the community.
Diaz has worked with the Eagle Pass Police Department for 21 years, of which 17 of these years have been as a Detective.
