Michael Torralba announces candidacy for Maverick County Constable Precinct 3-AB
Michael Torralba has authorized the Eagle Pass Business Journal to announce his candidacy for Maverick County Constable of Precinct 3-AB, also known as Precinct 3-1, for the Democratic Party Primary scheduled for March 1, 2016.
An experienced law enforcement officer for over 20 years, Torralba seeks to bring integrity, fairness, and experience to the Office of Constable and to the residents of Precinct 3-AB. Torralba is currently a Police Officer with the Eagle Pass Independent School District, where he serves as a Field Training Officer.
Torralba has extensive law enforcement and community relations experience which are important to the functions of a Constable. He plans to establish new safety programs for children and residents in Precinct 3-AB while building community awareness concerning the role of a Constable and public safety.
“I will re-establish the Constables Department of Precinct 3-AB with the highest integrity and fairness. My ability to achieve goals, objectives, and programs gives me the advantage and experience necessary to improve the quality of life of residents,” said Torralba.
“As a life-time resident of Precinct 3-AB, I am intimately familiar with the needs and concerns of residents of Precinct 3. And as a parent of two young children, I am aware of the needs and concerns of children and their parents concerning safety issues,” said Torralba.
After serving as a private Security Officer, I attended and graduated from the Del Rio Police Department Police Academy in 1996. My first police officer job was as a Deputy Constable of Precinct 3-AB. I quickly learned and implemented the various functions of a Constable in Maverick County. I gained valuable experience working as a Deputy Constable.
In 1998, I worked for the Maverick County Sheriff’s Department as a Deputy Sheriff, rising from a Civil Process Officer to Sergeant and Investigator during 1998-2003.
In 2003, I joined the Eagle Pass Independent School District Police Department as a K-9 Officer, where I reorganized the K-9 Department and obtained a donation of a K-9 dog. I developed new K-9 policies and procedures for the local public school district. I received a promotion to Lead Officer of a campus school and now am a Field Training Officer for the EPISD Police Department. While at EPISD Police Department, I have gained valuable experience working with children, parents, and staff concerning public safety issues.
While working at the EPISD Police Department, I also remained a Reserve Deputy with the Maverick County Sheriff’s Department during 2006-2012, working in the key border security programs of Operation Linebacker and Border Star. I gained important experience and knowledge concerning all the border security issues affecting Maverick County and working with multiple law enforcement agencies and legal system in prosecuting state and federal criminal cases.
During my past 20 years as a law enforcement officer, I have developed a genuine interest in helping the people of our community with law enforcement, legal, and safety issues. I wish to contribute and share my vast experience in law enforcement with the residents of Precinct 3-AB in making our community safer while protecting the life, liberty, and safety of our children. I know because I am a parent of two young children, too.
As your new Constable of Precinct 3-AB, I will increase patrols in the community and schools, work together with residents to learn about their particular concerns and issues within the precinct, work together with Justice of the Peace of Precinct 3-AB David Castaneda in the efficient administration of both civil and criminal cases, work with the Maverick County Sheriff’s Department, Eagle Pass Police Department, Eagle Pass Independent School District Police Department, and federal agencies in protecting the community and developing new programs and grants for our children and safety while upholding integrity and fairness.
I am married to Alma Leticia Torralba and have two children, Michelle L. Torralba, age 8, and Michael Torralba II, age 7.
Torralba is the son of the late Humberto F. Torralba and Juanita Torralba. He has one brother, Humberto Torralba, an Eagle Pass Police Department Officer and EPISD Board of Trustee.
I respectfully request your support and vote for Maverick County Constable of Precinct 3-AB during the Democratic Party’s March 1, 2016 Primary Election. I am independent and not beholden to any political group and have the professional experience to carry out the duties and responsibilities of Constable in the most fair and honest manner.
Early voting starts during February 16-26 and the general primary election is on Tuesday, March 1, 2015.
Please feel free to contact me with your support, suggestions, and concerns.
