Terry Scholar Andrea L. Pantoja to participate in Costa Rica Medical Mission

Eagle Passan Andrea Lissette Pantoja, a junior at Texas State University at San Marcos, Texas, has been selected to participate in the Terry Foundation Scholars 2016 Costa Rica Medical Mission during January 2-12, 2016 in Alajuelita, Costa Rica.
Andrea Lissette Pantoja is a 2013 Honors Graduate of Eagle Pass High School and the daughter of Jesse and Margarita Pantoja of Eagle Pass, Texas.
Pantoja was named a Terry Foundation Scholar during her senior year at Eagle Pass High School, as well as a Gates Millennium Scholar by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. She is studying Physical Therapy at Texas State University and plans to apply for admission to a Doctor of Physical Therapy Program in the near future.
Pantoja is a member of a small group of Terry Foundation Scholars studying health care careers participating in the Foundation for International Medical Relief of Children (FIMRC) medical mission to Alijuelita, Costa Rica during January 2-12, 2015. FIRMC is a worldwide non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of children in underserved areas through medical care and health education.
During her medical mission in Costa Rica, Pantoja will assist health care professionals provide medical care, psychological services, and health education to poor and displaced children and immigrant families who do not have access to Costa Rica’s health care system. She will lead health education campaigns through various community activities such as aiding health care professionals, assist physical therapists, interactive health education classes, and teaching health education in community soup kitchens.
While at Texas State University, Pantoja is a member of the Terry Scholars Community Service Committee, Physical Therapy Organization, and volunteers at the San Marcos Horse Therapeutic Riding Center. She also is a member of the Gates Millennium Scholars group at Texas State University.
Pantoja is a constant volunteer or intern at several Eagle Pass health care organizations during her summers and holidays.
