Fort Duncan Regional Medical Center hires National Radiology Group

Maverick Countians needing healthcare at Fort Duncan Regional Medical Center will now receive quick radiology reports as a result of a new partnership reached by Fort Duncan Regional Medical Center on January 29, 2016 with vRad Radiology to provide comprehensive radiological services and reports at the Eagle Pass, Texas hospital.
vRad Radiology will provide Fort Duncan Regional Medical Center with access to one of the largest pools of U.S.-board certified, sub-specialized radiologists in the country – with nearly 200 physicians licensed in Texas, 140 of whom are fellowship trained, including expertise in Breast Imaging, Cardiac, including Coronary CTA and Cardiac MRI, MSK, Neuroradiology, Pediatrics, Thoracic and Vascular Radiology, to name a few.

v-Rad’s physicians team is led by Chief Medical Officer Benjamin W. Strong, MD, certified in both radiology and internal medicine, with fellowship training in musculoskeletal MRI. Dr. Strong leads a world-class team of medical directors and clinical chiefs, including Dr. Ray Montecalvo who will be overseeing Fort Duncan Regional Medical Center relationship. Dr. Montecalvo completed his fellowship in US, CT, and MRI at Thomas Jefferson in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and was Chairman of the Radiology Department at Naples Community Hospital from 1997-2004, prior to joining vRad in 2005.
v-Rad focuses on quality that has a Quality Assurance (QA) Program, overseen by a hands-on Quality Assurance Committee, integrating peer review, standardized monitoring of quality metrics, and active clinical oversight. Its proprietary workflow assignment technology – getting the right study to the right radiologist in the shortest amount of time – generates more accurate reads and faster turnaround times. v-Rad has a consistent 99.7% accuracy rate. Patients at Fort Duncan Regional Medical Center will have access to vRad’s online client portal to submit and manage QA cases online, check case status in real-time, view case details and view and download QA reporting.
Dr. Silvestre Ortiz, a radiologist, will be on-site three days a week in Eagle Pass starting on February 1. 2016. Dr. Ortiz is skilled in CT, MRI, Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine and Interventional Radiology.
