UPDATE: LATE BREAKING NEWS
The Texas UIL Executive Committee denied Medina Valley High School’s petition to be transferred from District 26-5A to District 29-5A on Thursday, February 18, 2016 in Austin, Texas, announced C. C. Winn High School Athletic Coordinator and Head Football Coach Eric Villasenor. UIL’s decision leaves District 29-5A with six schools for 2016-2018 including C. C. Winn, Floresville, Uvalde, San Antonio Harlandale, San Antonio McCollum, and San Antonio Southside.
Coach Villasenor stated that District 29-5A is meeting on Monday, February 22, 2016 at San Antonio Harlandale High School to redraw the 2016-2017 athletic schedules. With the release of Calallen and Alice from District 29-5A, the six remaining schools will now have to find two non-district football games for 2016 which may be difficult to do so late in the scheduling period as most schools have already filled their schedules.
