Eagle Pass High School Lady Eagles face C. C. Winn High School Lady Mavericks in Softball Classic

The Eagle Pass High School Lady Eagles face cross-town rival C. C. Winn High School Lady Mavericks in another “Softball Classic” meeting between the two local teams on Tuesday, February 23, 2016, at 7 P.M. at the Eagle Pass Independent School District Student Activity Center Softball Field.
The inaugural softball meeting between the Lady Eagles and Lady Mavericks was on February 24, 2007 at the Laredo Border Olympics Softball Tournament Semi-Final Championship game which the Lady Eagles won by a score of 9-2 on a one-hitter hurled by former Lady Eagle pitcher Alexa C. Calderon enroute to winning the tournament championship. The second meeting between the two storied teams was in a District 29-5A game on March 14, 2007 at the Eagle Pass Independent School District Softball Complex on Second Street with the Lady Eagles shutting out the Lady Mavericks 7-0 on a no-hitter by former Lady Eagle hurler Alexa C. Calderon. The two local teams have since played each other at least 19 times.
The Lady Eagles and Lady Mavericks softball matchup has become a classic with intense competitivity between both teams. The Lady Eagles to date have won all the classic games, but the Lady Mavericks have valiantly fought hard to end the Lady Eagles streak. The Lady Mavericks will seek to earn their first softball classic win today.
Tonight’s softball classic between the Lady Eagles and Lady Mavericks promises to be another exciting and fun softball game between the two local teams. The Lady Eagles are led by Head Coach Oscar Ruiz while the Lady Mavericks are under the direction of new Head Coach J.J. Iracheta. Both teams are excited and enthusiastic about their softball classic tonight. The public is invited to come out and cheer and support both teams. Best of luck to both teams.
