Severe Weather Alert for Maverick County for February 22-23, 2016

Maverick County Emergency Coordinator Leopoldo “Polo” Vielma announced that the National Weather Service has issued a Severe Weather Alert for Maverick County on Monday, February 22, 2016 through Tuesday, February 23, 2016, commencing on Monday, February 22nd between 10 PM and 1 AM on Tuesday, 23rd with severe Showers and Thunderstorms and an 80 percent chance of rain. Vielma requests all Maverick Countians in low lying areas to be on alert and ready in case they receive too much rain or flooding in their property to relocate to higher grounds.
On Tuesday, February 23rd there is a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 7 AM with some of the storms reaching severe levels. Winds will be from the Northwest between 5 to 15 MPH increasing to 20-30 MPH. Winds may gust as high as 40 MPH and should decrease to 10 to 20 MPH after midnight.
