Maverick County Hospital District Chief Executive Officer Terri Patlan-Contreras has been selected by the United States-Mexico Border Health Commission to participate in its prestigious 2016 Leaders across Borders Program, announced Robert Guerrero, Chief of Border Health Services for the Arizona Department of Health.
Leadership across Borders is an eight months long unique, advanced leadership program that provides a binational venue to work collaboratively with participants from the U.S.-Mexico border states concerning public health issues.
The Leadership across Borders Program affords participants to enhance their leadership skills, strengthen binational professional networks, and gain an in-depth understanding of public health systems and border dynamics that characterize the U.S.-Mexico border region.
Patlan-Contreras is the second Maverick County Hospital District manager to be accepted to the Leadership across Borders Program in recent years as former Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program Director William Worrell participated last year. Worrell is now Chief Executive Officer of United Medical Centers.
Patlan-Conteras has worked at the Maverick County Hospital District for over 20 years in various capacities, including as its Chief Executive Officer during the past two years.
Patlan-Contreras will join public health officials from the U.S.-Mexico border states to help develop public health networks and programs that provide improved public health for border residents.
