Texas Transportation Commission Approves $60 million in Strategic Funding to be Distributed to Border Counties
Austin, TX – The Texas Transportation Commission approved the 2016 Unified Transportation Program providing $2.1 billion for statewide transportation improvement initiatives. Of the $2.1 billion, $60 million is allocated towards border infrastructure funding that will be disbursed to three border districts within 50 miles of ports of entry. Funding comes from both the Fixing America’s Surface Transportation (FAST) Act and Rider 11(b) of the General Appropriations Bill of the 84th Legislative Session.
Critical infrastructure funding to be distributed to House District 74 includes:
- Presidio County: Adding an additional bridge structure at Presidio-Ojinaga International port-of-entry
- Maverick County: Widening US 277 from State Loop 480 into Eagle Pass to 5-Lane
- Maverick, Kinney, & Val Verde Counties: Super 2 passing lanes on US 277 between Eagle Pass and Del Rio
“As House District 74 continues to grow and benefit from infrastructure projects, we will continue to fight for them,” said State Representative Nevárez.
