Eagle Pass, Texas shooting suspect arrested by law enforcement authorities

A 19 year old young male person, Jorge Amezcua, of Eagle Pass, Texas has been arrested for being a suspect in a gun shooting attempted murder of another male person, Eduardo Rodriguez, age 29, in Eagle Pass, Texas by Eagle Pass Police Department Officers, Texas Department of Public Safety Officers, and Texas Rangers at approximately 5:20 P.M. at the 700 Block of Concho Street after attempting to flee from authorities.
The law enforcement authorities got into a standoff with the suspect at the 700 Block of Concho Street near the Eagle Pass Creek behind some apartments and residential homes. The 19 year old suspect fired several shots at law enforcement officers with an AR-15 rifle. Family members of the suspect were able to persuade the 19 year old male to surrender to law enforcement authorities. The officers were able to detain and arrest Jorge Amezcua and whisked him off the scene of the apprehension.
Eagle Passan, Eduardo Rodriguez, age 29, was shot and injured by a gunman believed to be the 19 year old Jorge Amezcua in a gray Ford Mustang automobile at approximately 3:45 P.M. on the 800 Concho Street bridge of Eagle Pass Creek. Law enforcement authorities began a massive search for the suspect’s gray Ford Mustang automobile description given by witnesses.
At approximately 5:07 P.M., the suspect Jorge Amezua attempted to flee from a hiding place and a chase ensued by law enforcement officers with some shots fired by the 19 year old Amezcua against law enforcement officers who had surrounded his residence on the 800 Block of Concho Street, ending in a standoff three blocks away from the actual crime scene at the 700 Block of Concho Street.
Amezcua was completely surrounded by Eagle Pass Police Department Officers, DPS SWAT Team members, Texas Rangers, and other law enforcement officers. Shortly thereafter, Jorge Amezcua was under custody and arrest of the the authorities.
Amezua was detained less than two hours after the initial shooting occurred on Concho Street.
The shooting incident remains under investigation of the Eagle Pass Police Department, Texas Department of Public Safety Investigative Division, and the Texas Rangers.
Although charges have not yet been filed against Jorge Amezua, he may face attempted murder charges for firing against the law enforcement officers prior to his arrest and another attempted murder charge for shooting Eduardo Rodriguez at Concho Street.
