Early Voting for Maverick County Democratic Party Primary Run-Off Election Underway

Early voting for the Maverick County Democratic Party Primary Run-Off Election is underway during Monday May 16, 2016 through Friday, May 20, 2016 at the City of Eagle Pass Multi-Purpose Center and election day is on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at the Multi-Purpose Center.
There are three run-off elections being held, including Constable of Precinct 3 AB, Precinct 3C, and Precinct 1.
For Maverick County Constable of Precinct 3 A & B, the candidates are Mario A. Hernandez and Michael Torralba.
Torralba and Hernandez earned the right to a run-off election during the Maverick County Democratic Primary election held on March 2, 2016.
Neither candidate received 50.1% or greater at the March 1, 2016 Primary election to win the
Democratic Party’s nomination for the November 8, 2016 General election.
In the March 1, 2016 Democratic Primary election, Hernandez received 798 votes (44.36%) of the votes while Michael Torralba received 527 votes (29.29%).
For Maverick County Constable Precinct 1, the candidates are Rudy Valdez and Humberto Torralba, Jr.
During the March 1, 2016 Democratic Party Primary election, Valdez and Torralba earned the right to a run-off election with Valdez receiving 786 votes (40.94%) and Humberto Torralba, Jr. received 457 votes (23.80%).
A third run-off election is that for Constable of Precinct 3-C (Normandy-Quemado) between the candidates of Samuel “Sam” Chacon and Abraham “Happy” Martinez.race that is being contested in the run-off election is the position of In the Maverick County Constable Precinct 3-C race.
During the March 1, 2016 Primary election, Samuel “Sam” Chacon received 107 votes (40.84%) while Abraham “Happy” Martinez received 101 votes (38.55%).
A total of 7,207 Maverick Countians voted in the March 1, 2016 Maverick County Democratic Party Election.
All Maverick County registered voters in Precinct 1, 3 A-B, and 3-C are encouraged to come out and vote for the candidates of their choice. Early Voting period will continue until Friday, May 20, 2016 at the Eagle Pass Multi-Purpose Center. Regular Run-Off Election Day is Tuesday, May 24th, again at the Multi-Purpose Center.
