2016 Border Prosecution Unit Local Law Enforcement Training Held
(Press Release) District Attorney Roberto Serna reported that on June 13, 2016, the District Attorney’s Office, through the Border Prosecution Unit, presented a seminar to local law enforcement agencies on warrantless search and seizures. The seminar was attended by 90 law enforcement officers from different agencies, including the Texas Department of Public Safety, the Maverick County Sheriff’s Office, Zavala County Sheriff’s Office, Dimmit County Sheriff’s Office, Eagle Pass Police Department, Eagle Pass Independent School District Police Department, and the Crystal City Independent School District Police Department. The speaker at the training was Mr. Ted Wilson. Mr. Wilson had been an assistant district attorney with Harris County in Houston, Texas for 34 years. He is an expert in search and seizure law under the 4th Amendment and conducts trainings throughout the country. D.A. Serna reported that the District Attorney’s Office will continue to conduct trainings throughout the year to ensure that law enforcement agencies in Dimmit, Maverick, and Zavala counties receive continuing training and education in order to better protect our children, our elderly, our schools, and our communities.
